Spoons: Before And After

Hello, my name is Ashley and it’s nice to meet you. I was born and raised in Connecticut and am the youngest of four children in my blended family. I met my husband, Dan in November of 2006 and by 2010 we found ourselves in our early twenties, engaged, and moving across the country to Las Vegas. In 2011, Dan and I married in a beach ceremony on the beach in the U.S. Virgin Islands. I completed my undergraduate degree (BA in Multidisciplinary Studies in Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy) from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). I was originally accepted into the Marriage and Family Therapy graduate program at UNLV, but ultimately decided that I wanted to fulfillment lifelong dream of working in the Criminal Justice field.

In the beginning of 2014, after a three year stint in Las Vegas, Dan and I decided to relocate and put down roots in North Carolina. Later that same year, we welcomed our daughter, Ava and I began graduate school at Saint Joseph’s University. I studied and in 2015, graduated with an MS in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Crime and Intelligence Analysis in 2015. Juggling a newborn, work, and school was difficult, but I managed to graduate with a 3.7 GPA. I planned on either working towards a PhD in Forensic Psychology or going to Law School, with the goal being to work in the Intelligence community. My body had other plans…

My family and I still reside in North Carolina with the other two members of my family; our grumpy, thirteen year old Beagle, Rascal and our two year old neurotic, German Shephard/Husky/Golden Retriever mix, Remy. My days are spent doing the whole mom and wife thing, while being forced to adult. As for lighthearted information, I’m not really a ‘favorites’ person, but here we ago: I would die without music, mainly hiphop, rap, and Billboard 100 hits. I can (horribly) sing every song, on all 4 of Halsey’s albums by heart. Any cute and furry makes me happy, especially dogs and foxes. Sansa Stark, Queen In The North, is forever my queen. My demons are on full display with the hope that someone, somewhere, knows that they aren’t alone, and there are people out there, that are more fucked up than they are. Like me. 😁
